ŠAMORÍN, December 10, 2017 – The woman U23 category on EC in cross country in Šamorín, was carried out in the sign of the awaited duel between German top athletes, double U20 champion Konstanze Klosterhalfen and Alina Reho.
The result was same as in the German qualification in Darmstadt: Reho gained her first title, and baffled golden hattrick of her compatriot Klosterhalfen, who won the U20 titles in the previous two years.
The twenty-years old Reho confirmed her great shape. In autumn she broke German records in U23 in 10K road race and Half Marathon. Jessica Judd from the Great Britain finished third. Three years ago she finished second in U20 category.
Lucia Janečková’s (Slovakia) dream did not come true – during her record, 5th start on the EC, she was hoping to improve her result from last year when she finished 39th. This year she finished 57th. Debutant on EC in cross country, Veronika Zrastáková, finished right behind her.
The results in the team competition were the same as last year, the Brits won over Gemans, and Turkey won the bronze medal. Slovakia did not have a team.
