ŠAMORÍN, December 10, 2017 – Harriet Knowles-Jones from the Great Britain became the winner of the U20 category (4,18 km) at 24th European Cross Country Championships in x-bionic® sphere, Šamorín.
After the silver medal from Hyéres 2015 and the bronze medal in Chia 2016, she crowned her perfomance in this category with the gold medal, and fulfilled the role of the biggest favourite. Knowles-Jonestriumphed with the 11 seconds lead before the surprise of the competition, Lili Anna Tóth from Hungary. Miriam Dattke from Germany finished third. The two U20 Europen champions were defeated – Lau from the Netherlands, champion in 5000 m, finished fourth, and Sclabas from Switzerland finished 17th.
The best one from the three Slovaks was Alexandra Zavadská, she finished 78th from 104 participants. She was two spots behind her results from Chia last year, but the competition was bigger. The Brits defended the team title, Slovak trio finished 19.
